Nothing for now.

Here is a news that passed right thru the news posters of the skinning community. Since February 19th, Skinz.org is working again. That means you can upload your work, submit news, exchange in the forum. And guess what.....it's brown.

Also, Skinz.org is already taking things seriously by appointing Snowman as a new moderator. Will the newowner be like thirty4? only the future will tell.

WTF is with the popup window at every page load? Just spams my tray browsing the site >
on Feb 26, 2003
I refuse to use sites that bombard you with popups.
on Feb 26, 2003
oh my. just use a real browser like Mozilla, Phoenix or Opera and you will not see popups anywhere. Wincustomize has popups now as well, so the only popup free site is deskmod (and the Linux sites of course where popups would make no sense anyways, as Linux users don´t have Internet Exploder)

>>Wincustomize has popups now as well<<

since when? I've never seen one. Me thinks your mistakin or have adware on your system

since a week or so. try browsing the site when you are not logged in and you´ll get a Galctic Civilization and Pixtudio popup window every now and when. wonder which adware that would be
on Feb 26, 2003
hmm... im not getting any popups either at Skinz or WinCusto....

If you create an account and logon there are no pop-ups. And the pop-ups we do have promote our own stuff.

"try browsing the site when you are not logged in "

oh ok, ive never browsed the site not logged in. Havent seen any popups period, stardock related or not. Skinz.org gave me a bunch, and some of the popups loaded more popups. I wont visit that site again, prob wont be up long anyhow

Popups are evil, no matter what they promote. Not to mention the high annoyance factor.

Now this newowner dude first popped up way back in november. I wonder how things will shape up.
on Feb 27, 2003
Brad, you're sinking to new lows. Get rid of those popups, seriously. You, of all people introducing that crap is just plain shocking.

Give me a break, if people can't be bothered to create an account then why should we care if there's a pop up promoting our own stuff? This isn't viagra that's popping up, it's Stardock software coming up.

SOMEONE has to pay for this site. Understand? It's not a magical thing. Ads don't pay the bills which why we dn't have them. But if we can sell our own stuff more effectively while providing an easy way for people to avoid them then I think that works out nicely.

And they don't show up very often even on non-logged on people. After GalCiv ships next month, we'll probably turn it down or off but for now, GalCiv exists in a very competitive industry and we are going to do what we can to even the odds.

Frankly, I just can't see how anyone reasonable or half-way reasonable can object to a single pop up that shows up for non-logged in users. It costs nothing to logon.
